Why can Trump do no wrong in the eyes of his supporters, despite being the polar opposite of what Christian moral behavior dictates? Are Christians and Trump supporters confused, or know exactly what they support and are bad Christians?
They’re confused mostly. 30 or 40 years or more of GOP gaslighting and that’s where they settled. There may be some playing games but most actually do believe their nonsense. And those that believed it passed it to their kids. For me, it started under Reagan and the first church I attended. As a former right winger, I took it all in. My church embraced the politics and it is a natural end that if you mix the two (Christianity & politics) you create a Maga. I believed what I was being taught and there was always this sense that we were on a mission from God of some kind…to expose all the heathen and help bring the coming of Jesus to rule forever and ever. Would I call it psychotic? I would say mostly. There are some more similar to myself who will eventually break out..but until then, their defeats encourage them to push forward “for Jesus.” They have a relationship with their feelings and don’t realize it’s not Jesus but that their inner dialogue is talking to themselves. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯..and, yeah, that's crazy. Trump is nuttier than a fruitcake and he attracts people who have had a long time love with nutty fruitcakes sent by God. It was inevitable that America would begin failing when some con man comes along and games the system for himself. Hence, Trump and his GOP enablers. And as long as American evangelicals want to ignore that the king has no clothes...we are stuck here.

Bailing Out a Sinking Ship With a Teacup

Trump is bailing out farmers with $12 billion...the same farmers his tariffs devastated financially. Fortune Magazine reports: Trump’s $12 billion farmer bailout is a ‘Band-Aid on a bigger wound’ the American agriculture industry is still reeling from. But, of course, Trump but hasn’t freed the agriculture industry from worries of tight margins and volatile markets. He refuses to publicly acknowledge his tariffs have been very destructive to the economy. As the tariffs still are in place how many bailouts is he going to have to make? AS Fortune reported: Tariffs on farming-related machinery as well as products like seeds and fertilizer sit at 9%, costing U.S. farmers about $33 billion more, according to North Dakota State University’s Agricultural Trade Monitor. That includes a more than 15% tax on tractors and herbicides. He hasn't blamed Biden yet, but tomorrows another day. Comments can be made HERE

Dr. Holly Berkley Fletcher, the author of “The Missionary Kids: Unmasking the Myths of White Evangelicalism," recently said of her research that one thing she picked up from her interviews with others who’d grown up in evangelical missionary settings is “a myth that white evangelicals tell themselves,” she said. “It’s this idea that American Christians are key to the world’s salvation,” that “they see themselves as the default Christianity.
There are ideas about indispensability, about how good they are as people.”Just something to think about. I do see this "default" concept of Christianity as a very foundational part of Maga-Christianity. God is on their side and everyone else is wrong. Comments can be made HERE

The Undefined American Religion: Christianity

"Christianity" in America is a vaguely undefined word. Not by design but by what it has become. The flavors of religions that use the word Christian are many and varying in beliefs and persuasions. Then there's the Bible teachings which are reinterpreted over and over usually based on the defining or redefining one word. In that perspective "many are called; few are chosen" makes sense. How many is a few? we don't know. How many is "many", again we don't know for sure. I embrace Christianity because I am "known" by God. (In that day he will say to many go from me I never knew you") (side note: I can trace that in my life all the way back to when I was 8 years old; and will expand on that sometime)
To many people who claim Christianity that will still not make sense to them. But I say emphatically that God makes the choice and I believe He does that not out of random desires of His own, but by being able to see within the heart of all men. He then chooses, sees us as we are, then He spends what time we have on earth creating us into what He has imagine for us, and may work in us to bring other people with us when that time comes. Man cannot save himself. It might very well be at that moment in a dark part of our life making that realization we begin to sense the power of God and we grow from there.
Too many "Christians" believe salvation and Gods favor can be accomplished through rigorous religious activities and even political movements. God is not interested in anyone's politics, big church, money, or any of that kind of status, as those are temporal things which fade as quickly as we pass through time in this world. Love one another. Don't let something inane distract you. God didn't save you to stop abortion or give you favor because you say you "love Israel," or dozens more things many American evangelicals believe are cornerstones that make them Christians.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and then love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments hang ALL the Law and the Prophets. Again, it doesn't say politics as God in His sovereignty over nation will take care of that. The only thing that holds Him back are the people trying to do it all themselves for themselves or their country. God doesn't need your help or mine. And the days of yours or any country is numbered.
