===Spiritual warfare===

To be clear, I know the term spiritual warfare is often abused. If anything, I’m the kind of person who is skeptical when people use the term to describe what I think is just an unfortunate event (no, a demon didn’t hide your keys). However, the spiritual realm is real and does affect us. In fact, it’s referenced clearly throughout Scripture. While Satan was certainly the instigator of this war, he is not alone in the fight against God. In Daniel 10–11, an angel’s message to him indicated an all-out war was raging between spiritual powers loyal to God and territorial rulers of darkness. It is this same war in which we find ourselves today. When Jesus came, He began the restoration of God’s real and full reign over all the cosmos. Jesus was not only proclaiming this news as the gospel, but also fulfilling it through His life and casting out evil spirits (Matthew 4, 8, 12). Although rebellious spiritual beings know they are defeated, they, like Satan, are seeking to kill and destroy until the very end. First Peter 3:21–22 tells us that all spiritual beings are subjected to Christ, who is enthroned at the right hand of God. Nevertheless, Paul told the Corinthians that Christ must destroy all the spiritual rulers of evil before the end can come (1 Corinthians 15:24–28).
It’s easy to wonder, how is Christ fighting this battle? The final part of it has been raging for 2,000 years, after all. The answer is the work of the Holy Spirit through us, the church (Matthew 16:18–19). We are fighting a war that it is not won with weapons made of metal (Ephesians 6:12), but with lives of holiness.

Recognizing Spiritual WarfareDon't Call Everything Spiritual Warfare
- Not every hardship is spiritual warfare. Sometimes, it's God testing and refining us or the result of our actions.
- Adversity often precedes significant blessings. Reaffirm peace and joy in God despite spiritual attacks.

Whether you believe in and follow Him or not, God created you for a reason. He created you to know Him and experience His love. He created you for you to love others as you love yourself and to use your skills and talents for the good of the world — to point people to Him.
However, God has an enemy, who is known as Satan or the devil. Because he is an enemy to God and God’s people, he is sometimes referred to as simply “the enemy.”
Satan is committed to preventing people from knowing God and trusting Him with their lives. The enemy’s tactics may differ depending on whether someone is already a Christian or not, but his ultimate purpose is always to keep people from experiencing the love of God.
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” — 2 Corinthians 4:4

How to Fight in the Midst of Spiritual Warfare Every Christian goes through spiritual warfare. The enemy is always looking for opportunities to trip us up. And that is why during these times, we must put on the full armor of God. Some things are spiritual, and some things are not. Some things could be a result of our insecurities, or our sin. We must discern the difference between those things. In the last 6 to 7 years, the Lord has shown me a few things about learning how to fight. (Confident Woman 8/5/22) READMORE>>>>> |
![]() Stand on Scripture: We must stand on the word to know the truth. So, when the enemy tries to have us fall for a lie, we can refute it with the truth.
That is why memorizing scripture is crucial. We can not stand on something we do not remember. Psalms 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Here we see the author kept the word of God in his heart so that whenever he was going through any temptation and warfare, he was able to memorize the word and stand on it to resist (with the Holy Spirit empowering him) whatever the opposition was. We also should take note of the importance of careful memorization and pondering in our lives. Having the word of God readily accessible when we need it is critical as we fight back in spiritual warfare. The author was also singing and praying, expressing admiration to God which is a strategy that disrupts the plan of the enemy. Tip: If you need to make a trip to dollar tree and get some note cards, do it! Write the verses down and go over them. When Jesus was being tempted by the devil in the wilderness, what did he do? He stood on scripture. Every time the enemy tried to tell him lies, he refutes it with the truth. There’s even a time when Satan tried to use scripture, but he used it out of context. This tells me we have to be good students of the word of God as well. We must understand the context of the scriptures we are trying to stand on. -Confident Blog; How to Fight in the Midst of Spiritual Warfare 8.5.22 |
Jesus told us in Matthew 28:18 that, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” We now have the privilege of having an eternal relationship with God. Many of us enter into that covenant of salvation by grace. But the Matthew 28:18 verse is not only about our salvation; it is also about our every day victory, which adds up to victorious living in Christ. Every day victory is achieved by knowing, believing and understanding the battles that we are enduring daily, regardless if we are passive or active in the battles. --Bible Study Tools
