Reuters & Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported that experts say Comey prosecution is flawed. The latest criminal charges against James Comey are fundamentally flawed and will be dismissed on free speech grounds, according to legal experts, who said the former FBI director is being singled out for his criticism of President Donald Trump. The charges relate to a post Comey made on Instagram last May showing seashells arranged on a beach to form the numbers "86 47." Prosecutors say the post threatened Trump. Comey, who appeared in court on April 29, a day after being indicted over the post, has said he is innocent and will fight the accusations. Comey's photo was in "bad taste" but "protected speech," said David Hudson, a professor at Belmont University College of Law, adding that the post fell far short of being a true threat. "More reasonably, the message likely means opposition to the president or ejecting the president out of office," said Hudson. "One of the most fundamental of all First Amendment principles is the ability of individuals to criticize government officials – even intemperately and harshly." The indictment marks a renewed push by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who took over leadership of the Justice Department in April, to target perceived political enemies of the president with criminal prosecution. Trump mentioned Comey last year by name in a social media post calling for criminal charges against his adversaries.

USA Today reported that South Carolina State University students are protesting the possibility of the lieutenant governor speaking at their graduation for her opposition to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. More than 2,000 people have signed a petition calling for the removal of Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette as the commencement speaker for the historically Black university's graduation, citing her opposition to progressive policies and diversity initiatives. The lieutenant governor, who is also a candidate for governor, responded to the outcry on April 28, saying she will not back down to "woke ideologies." In a video posted to social media on April 28, Evette said that President Donald Trump and conservatives have done more for HBCUs than any other administration in history. "I must be doing something right because woke mobs are coming after me for being a champion of eliminating radical DEI scams on college campuses," Evette said. Zaria Tucker, president of South Carolina State's Student Government Association, said in a Facebook post that the student protests are about representation, not politics. She wrote that commencement should reflect the voices, values, and experiences of the students it celebrated. "At an HBCU, our legacy is rooted in advocacy, equity, and the power of our voices," Tucker wrote. "When decisions are made without us in moments that belong to us, it matters."
(Rebellion against conservatives. Her response: "I must be doing something right"....Students dont generally rebel against someone who is doing something right. Assuming they are all stupid woke people is a lousy approach to "fixing problems" but very Trumpian.🙄 )
The Associated Press reports that Iran's supreme leader vowed Thursday in a defiant tone to protect the Islamic Republic's nuclear and missile capabilities, which President Donald Trump has sought to curtail through airstrikes and as part of a wider deal to cement the war's shaky ceasefire. In a statement read by a state television anchor, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said the only place Americans belonged in the Persian Gulf is "at the bottom of its waters" and that a "new chapter" was being written in the region's history. Ayatollah Khamenei has not been seen in public since taking over as supreme leader following the killing of his father in the war's opening airstrikes. His remarks come as Iran's economy is reeling and its oil industry is being squeezed by a U.S. Navy blockade halting its tankers from getting out to sea. The world economy is also under pressure as Iran maintains its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of all crude oil is transported. On Thursday, the global benchmark for oil, Brent crude, traded as high as $126 a barrel. That shock to oil supplies and prices is putting pressure on Trump, who is floating a new plan to reopen the critical passageway used by the U.S.'s Gulf allies to export their oil and gas. Under the plan, the U.S. would continue its blockade on Iranian ports, while coordinating with allies to impose higher costs.
(ED NOTE: Iran and Hegseths military game are blockading each other at Hormuz..I guess whoever blinks first wins? Hate to say it but Iran is playing chess and Trump's playing checkers.....FORECAST: Higher gas prices. It's almost $5 here in some spots.)

UMC removes rule that homosexuality is ‘incompatible with Christian teaching
South Carolina Conference Bishop L. Jonathan Holston said that the vote will have a mixed reaction from the denomination, which has already experienced schism over the LGBT debate. "I know that some of you are celebrating, some are mourning and some are uncertain about what your future holds — for the denomination, for your local church and perhaps even for yourselves as followers of Jesus Christ," said Holston, as quoted by UM News. Christians need to rely on grace offered by Jesus' resurrection, says South Carolina priest
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). This verse comes from the Gospel of John, one of the four gospel narratives in the New Testament. While the exact authorship of this gospel is unknown, it is most commonly attributed to the Apostle John, says the website Catholic Answers. The lesson in this verse, South Carolina-based Fr. Jeffrey Kirby told Fox News Digital, is that Christians need to "cling to the Risen Christ and rely on His grace." (Fox News 4/28/24) READ MORE>>>>>

Dec 11, 2022: Christian Post: This week in Christian history: Pope Leo X born, South Carolina mandates church attendance

The Benefits of Conflict:
George Bullard, retired director of missions for the Baptists of Columbia, South Carolina, wrote a book by the title Every Church Needs a Little Conflict. He leads conferences by that title. It’s a great truth, and the point of our little article.
What a “little conflict” will do for a church–or an individual believer–is worth our consideration - 11.28.22
