Is Talking to Anti-Gay Christians a Waste of Time?Apparently not. The film proves very early on that people can change by introducing us to the hilariously charismatic Kathy Baldock, a Christian conservative who becomes an LGBTQIA+ activist after becoming hiking buddies with a lesbian woman.

June 15, 2023: The Street: Cracker Barrel Joins Bud Light, Chick-fil-A In 'Woke' Spotlight
"You will be opening in my city. I will be a customer. Respecting the humanity of ALL people matters, and matters to me a lot," wrote Kathy V. Baldock.
Cracker Barrel responded to an awful lot of the comments, with its response to Baldock being representative.
"Kathy V. Baldock Our doors and our hearts are open for all who visit here at Cracker Barrel. Thank you so much for sharing these kind words, Kathy. We can't wait to see you!" the chain answered.

May 2, 2023: Milwaukee Magazine: Film Fest Finds: ‘1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture’
“Not even God loves me.” That’s the confession that stirred up a calling for Kathy Baldock who would eventually be featured as one of the researchers in the documentary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture.
Baldock, a woman who is straight and has a strong faith, went home and prayed to God asking about her friend who is a lesbian. She asked if it was true, does He not love her friend? She believes He does. But she knew it would take more than spiritual certainty to prove this point. So she got to researching, in hopes of uncovering some clarity in the Bible.

Notably, another one of the endorsements for the McDonalds comes from Kathy Baldock, executive director of Canyonwalker Connections, which aims to “repair the division existing between social and Christian conservatives and…[LGBT] communities.” Baldock was part of the team behind the film "1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture," a documentary released last November that claims a “mistranslation” of the Bible is to blame for Christians believing that homosexuality is a sin.

Jan 25, 2021: Dallas Voice: The Bible didn’t really say that
The film has given me the opportunity to be a guest in many church communities, and once the film is released, I hope to tour various churches in person with the researchers who are featured in the film, Kathy Baldock and Ed Oxford. Our goal is to have the greatest impact with this life-saving work.
Mar 17, 2015: Liberal America: 10 Anti-Gay Things You Can’t Do While Following Jesus
I think Kathy Baldock of Canyonwalker Connections has a very helpful perspective on this. She says that kind of thinking comes from seeing same-sex attraction as a behavior rather than understanding it as a part of who someone is.
Dec 17, 2014: LGBTQ Nation: How a sheltered housewife became the foremost in-your-face challenger of Christian homophobia
My first interaction with Kathy Baldock, the founder and director of Canyonwalker Connections, was in 2012. She had shared information online about the newly formed Restored Hope Network and its new leader, Robert Gagnon. I had just completed some advocacy for California’s new law protecting minors from “reparative therapy” and was writing about this new and threatening group.
Oct 17, 2014: Impact: Review: Kathy Baldock’s “Walking the Bridgeless Canyon”
Author and LGBT ally Kathy Baldock takes a comprehensive look at the historical and cultural layers of misunderstanding about homosexuality and gender non-conformity — and why they need to be peeled back for good.
July 3, 2014: GLBT Reviews: God and the Gay Christian
The final chapter highlights modern church reformers such as Kathy Baldock of Canyon Walker Connections and Justin Lee of the Gay Christian Network, as well as discussing Vines’s own work in the Reformation Project. Extensive endnotes indicate that Vines has, indeed, put much time and effort into thoroughly studying this topic.
