John 7

We are to judge with righteous judgement, not according to our own fleshly mind. Michael rebuked the devil in terms of Gods word. The sin is in judgment without Gods word; apparently this was involved in the devil's claims on Moses. Judgment must be in terms of Gods word because the world and man are creations of God and cannot understand, assessed, or judgment apart from Him. If any neighbor is my creature, I could only use my fiat will to judge him; since he is God's creature, I can only use God's declared word to judge him.
Man, having been created in Gods image, cannot be understood apart from God and in particular must be treated with respect. The fact that man is fallen does not eliminate God's image. |
Can I judge someone who in sin? Ultimate judgment, you understand, belongs to God and to God alone. “He has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed” (Acts 17:31). “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
On the other hand, God expects me to judge with “right judgment:” “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment” (John 7:24). “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-16). Did Jesus not command me to “judge” false prophets—to say that their teaching is false—in the same chapter where he told me not to judge? Yeah, he did. Think for a moment if I take the lady who told me that I cannot judge me “fellow man by thr sins.” If I take her statement to its logical conclusion, I can say no one’s actions are right or wrong. Am I not to say that Hitler was wrong for the Holocaust? Can I not say that those monsters who flew airplanes into buildings on September 11, 2001, were wrong? Surely, we can know what actions are right and wrong! |
Without the cleansing rains, however, pools of water can become stagnant, rank and putrid, emitting noxious odors and growing harmful microorganisms. Similarly, without the cleansing of the Spirit, people can become toxic bogs, filled with such parasitic organisms as jealousy and resentment, or contaminants such as hidden sins, shame, fear, or even unrelenting sorrow. Whether it is willful sins or innocent wounds, long-standing, death-filled pools cannot be flushed clean with a drop of water here or a touch on the tongue there. Water’s strength to transform is found in vigorous torrents. We need a flash flood of the Spirit to lift dead material from the depths of our souls. Jesus said that those who believed in him would have, “streams of living water flow from deep within him.” And deep within is just where we need these streams to flow, in order to reach those places that may be obscured even from our own eyes, but are dripping with pernicious poisons, nonetheless. --Jayne M ; Creating a Great Day |
John 7:24:
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment |

John 7:53-8:11:
And everyone went to his own house. But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” |
