Isaiah 24
Isaiah 24:5:
The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. |
Describes the devastation of the planet that results from the insubordination of human beings to God. It does not imply that through the fall the earth was "punished" or that it was perfect and because of Adam it suddenly became "imperfect." It, rather, lays the blame upon mankind. Clearly, we see many examples of the way man, in his attempt to replace God, has done far more damage than good. Hence, it is defiled.
