Genesis 12
Genesis 12:2–3:
“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (NIV) |
The Jewish people are the touchstone by which all other nations are going to be judged. Scripture gives us a warning in this regard:
“May all who hate Zion, be put to shame and turned backward” (Psalm 129:5, NASB) Any nation that opposes God’s purpose for the restoration of Zion will be put to shame and turned backward. Nations determine their destinies by how they respond to the restoration of God’s people. -Derek Prince |
This was fulfilled in Christ. Galatians 3:8: "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying In thee shall all nations be blessed."
Genesis 12:8:
And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. |
Bethel is a symbol of fellowship with God. Ai is the symbol of the world. Abram pitched his tent between the two.
