Irish evangelical leader says Enoch Burke case centers on 'behavior', not transgender rights
A senior Irish evangelical leader has said the prolonged imprisonment of teacher Enoch Burke is the result of his own conduct and defiance of court orders, not his beliefs about gender or transgender issues. Nick Park, executive director of the Evangelical Alliance in Ireland, told the Irish Independent that Burke’s “un-Christian,” “insulting” and “disruptive” behavior — rather than his views — lies at the center of the case, which has become one of Ireland’s most contentious legal and cultural flashpoints. “Enoch Burke was not suspended or fired for refusing to call a child by incorrect pronouns,” Park said. “He was suspended for his behaviour.”

Jan 22, 2023: Fox News: Atheist group accuses Indiana sheriff's office of 'pushing Christianity' on inmates after hundreds baptized
On Dec. 29, the sheriff's office posted photos on its Facebook page of dozens of inmates being baptized.
"What a great way to celebrate Christmas and a New Year! DCDC Chaplain Dave Burnett along with REC members baptized nearly 40 men and women after a personal, public profession of Jesus Christ in their lives," the post said.

A Better Story: How three friends from North London are challenging Christian nationalism
A group of three Christian friends from North London are attempting to tackle notions of ‘Christian nationalism' through a grassroots movement. Better Story aims to spread a gospel-based counter to recent anti-migration riots, which saw crucifixes displayed alongside nationalist symbols. Tommy Sharpe, along with his wife Poppy Sharpe and friend Fergus Burnett, felt prompted to tell "a better story" after witnessing first-hand the clash between anti-immigration and anti-fascist ideologies. January 22, 2025: The Way I See It:
A guy named Harvey Burnett says he was asked by people in his congregation: "Since these fires have devastated what has otherwise been known as strongholds of liberal thought and lifestyle of the rich, and many of who disdain God and Biblical morality, could these fires possibly be the judgement of God?"
He moved toward saying no, but having to qualify that his blog, The Dunamis Word, does not preach any "liberal talking points" but did answer rightly with: "We don't place God on the platform of a social vigilante. God is God. He is a savior and a true judge and he raises up one and sets down another at his bidding (Ps.75.:7) and in his due time for his own purpose. All them that have embraced evil, will be handled. The whole world is ultimately subject to his will. With that said, it amazes me to see how many, alleged Christians, can view destruction, loss and suffering of others who have views of morality that they oppose, as an opportunity to point towards and uphold their own self-righteousness, and further use the suffering of other individuals as an opportunity to contend that "God is speaking" and, I suppose, because the wealthy suffer, "God now means business" and we suddenly need to listen more intently."
He continues: "Yes, we will pay a price as a nation for over 63 million murders of babies through and by abortion. Yes, we will pay a price for the promotion of homosexuality and now the normalization of transsexuality which encourages the mutilation of children. Yes, I could name many sins, that America has embraced, actions, ways and moral positions that are against God and godliness, and totally unworthy of his blessings...However, with all of that said, God's WORD affirms:
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? ~ Ezek. 33:11".
When qualifying the fact that he doesn't preach liberal talking points, my immediate assumption was this was going to be a Christian Nationalist type response. But in the end he rightly wrote "When The REAL and FINAL Judgment of God comes, it will be inescapable." I can agree with that and set aside some immediate prejudices I have acquired along the way.

May 15, 2023:
Following are a few of the most bizarre things that was preached last night at the REAwaken Tour, which is essentially a Christian Nationalist Lovefest for Donald, the sexual predator, Trump. Michael Flynn's remarks (below) are dehumanizing and dangerous.
MAGA cultists gathered at The Trump National Doral resort last night for a "Pastors For Trump" event that kicked off with a prayer asking God to "intervene in the affairs of this nation" by giving Trump "divine wisdom" and "divine discernment."
Self proclaimed "Prophet" Amanda Grace, in one of the most bizarre messages, warned of technologically advanced “mermaids and water people” spreading perversion and told the crowd, “we are meant for hand to hand combat.”
Ex-American Idol contestant and Flat-Earther right-wing activist Jimmy Levy resurrected a conspiracy theory that was championed by QAnon. These people are drinking the blood of children," Levy proclaimed. "These (Hollywood) people are injecting a chemical called adrenochrome that they extract from children that are scared." (apparently because he was on American Idol he is an expert on all things Hollywood ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
Pastor Mark Burns cited the Bible to suggest that violence is needed to take power: "You got to get to the point where you realize that when they smack you in the face you smack them back two times harder," Burns said, quoting Matthew 5:38-40, which reads, "If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." He then suggested violence as he noted that the "Bible says the violent take it... and we take it by force," in reference to Matthew 11:12, which reads, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.""We are here ready to take this nation back," said Burns during the event this week. "And I believe without a shadow of a doubt, the only man that God has anointed him...to be the next President of the United States of America and that is Donald Trump. That's why we got to declare war on this transgender agenda that tried to destroy our children's minds in the United States of America."
Michael Flynn weighed in, of course: "The other side is an ideology that they don't have faith. They don't believe in God. They have no soul. They have no consciousness......When we think about something, we go, you know, black and white right and wrong, good and evil. They don't see things like that. They don't see in those terms."
Baptist Pastor Brian Kaylor said that Flynn's comment is a "dangerous dehumanizing rhetoric," and that he's "painting this as a battle between God's people & soulless creatures."
If they can keep pushing the idea that anyone left of them is soul-less..........they are doing the same thing Hitler did in German with the Jews. Soul-less people are easier to kill. And they will do it to purify whatever race or creed they are claiming. Last night, after he cancelled his Iowa rally, Trump called Michael Flynn and told him he would "bring him back" in his next administration. The "Reawaken" tour came to the Trump National Doral Miami for a three-day conference.

Bush started her new position in July 2020, and she has been leading the estimated 25 members of Centenary United Methodist Church and around 50 members of downtown Salt Lake City’s First United Methodist Church simultaneously through weekly livestreamed services.

Calvinism may hold key to understanding America’s white evangelical movement
A review of Anthea Butler’s “White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America,” by Bianca Mabute-Louie, identifies evangelicalism as a nationalist political movement to support white, Christian hegemony. Racism is a feature, not a bug, of the movement. Butler, according to Mabute-Louie, said, “interpretation of Scriptures, theology, and belief informed evangelicals’ social and political actions, and justified the oppression of African Americans during and post-enslavement.” Many Americans have been puzzled by evangelicals’ devotion to President Donald Trump despite his lurid personal picadilloes, his seeming lack of religiosity and the cruelty of his recent attempt to deny millions, including children, of food benefits.

“I think that we need to talk about Catholicism and democracy together because it's a really important focus of this election cycle....I believe that Vice President Kamala Harris is the best person, along with Tim Walz, to put us in a place where democracy will stay in place, first of all, and secondarily that we as Catholics will be able to explore and express our faith in ways that are alongside the teachings of the Catholic Church. One of the things I think that we have always been accused of historically as Catholics is wanting to have the pope run the country,” she said, noting a popular anti-Catholic strain of thought in American politics. We have seen with Joe Biden that's not simply the case… He is faithful to his Catholic tradition. He has not tried to impose that, but what he has done is hold up democracy. And I believe that Vice President Kamala Harris will do the same thing.” -Anthea Butler; Catholics for Harris-Walz National Organizing Call 9/18/24

We now have a formidable body of scholarship that establishes the depth and extent of these features of the American evangelical tradition, confirming and expanding on Richard Hofstadter’s legendary analysis in his 1964 book, Anti-intellectualism in American Life. This new body of scholarship is the work of a remarkable generation of young historians who have yet to receive the credit they’re due, so I name some of them here: Darren Dochuk, Matthew Sutton, Anthea Butler, Timothy Gloege, Jesse Curtis, Lerone Martin, J. Russell Hawkins, Stephen Young, Daniel Hummel, Daniel Silliman, and—the only one in this cohort to gain wide media recognition--Kristin Kobes Du Mez, author of the justly famous and marvelously titled, Jesus and John Wayne. Sadly, while the majority of these scholars have written for Religion Dispatches, the conclusions of these bold and creative scholars have been largely ignored in the discussion of religion and politics found in the pages of The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other media of comparable reach and influence.

There is a popular and perilous rumour around, inspired by the late Myles Munroe
and Benny Hinn. It suggests that the sovereign God requires man’s permission to do anything on earth. Munroe claimed that the only creature with authority on earth is mankind, ‘a spirit in a dirt body.’ Once, when hosted by Benny Hinn, Munroe insisted that because God is a spirit without a body, he cannot operate on earth without permission from humanity. ‘Any spirit without a body is illegal on planet earth’ he says, ‘even God Himself is illegal on earth.’ How then does God get the license to operate on earth? Munroe’s reply: ‘Through prayers’. -For Munroe, prayer is ‘man giving God permission or license to interfere in earth’s affairs.’ Indeed, he believes ‘God could do nothing on earth without a human giving Him access.’ --Joseph Byamukama; Gospel Coalition; Africa; 5.13.20

It's just meeting JESUS. Jesus! Had to leave a 1 am, but it was still going on! GO TO: Aggie Park 8:30 every night!"
