Acts 19:15: Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Paul lived in a bloody world. The Romans had conquered much of it with the sword. Against this he held the blood of the cross. His warfare was known even in hell.
Jesus I know (ton Ihsoun ginwskw). "The (whom you mention) Jesus I recognize (ginwskw)" and "the (whom you mentioned) Paul I am acquainted with (ton Paulon epistamai)." Clear distinction between ginwskw and epistamai. But who are ye? (umei de tine este?). But you, who are you? Emphatic prolepsis.
